Yerevan Jewelry Plant (“Emil Grigorian” / Gnomon)

Gold in 585/750/958; medals and commemorative coins; heritage collections

Founded in 1950 as the Yerevan Jewelry Plant — Armenia's first jewelry company — the enterprise was later branded Gnomon, renamed Yerevan Jewelry Plant-1 “Gnomon” OJSC in 2005, and has retailed under the Emil Grigorian name since 2017.

The plant produces rings, earrings, necklaces, brooches and medals in 585, 750 and 958 gold, combining hand work with machine production and maintaining in-house diamond cutting.

Its maker's marks form a documented hallmark sequence, begun in 1953, that collectors still use to date Soviet-Armenian pieces; the heritage collections draw on Western Armenian church motifs and medieval bird-letter calligraphy, and the Trchnatar line was blessed by Catholicos Vazgen I in 1988.

A registry entry of the jewelry.am makers directory, compiled from public, verifiable sources and re-checked before publication. It documents craft identity only — it is not an endorsement, a ranking, or purchase guidance.
